In a regime of superabundant free copies, copies lose value. They are no longer the basis of wealth. Now relationships, links, connection, and sharing are. Value has shifted away from a copy toward the many ways to recall, annotate, personalize, edit, authenticate, display, mark, transfer, and engage a work. Authors and artists can make (and have made) their livings selling aspects of their works other than inexpensive copies of them. They can sell performances, access to the creator, personalization, add-on information, the scarcity of attention (via ads), sponsorship, periodic subscriptions—in short, all the many values that cannot be copied. The cheap copy becomes the “discovery tool” that markets these other intangible valuables.

from "Scan This Book!" by Kevin Kelly /New York Times Magazine
http://quod.lib.umich.edu/cgi/t/text/text-idx?c=bot;cc=bot;rgn=div1;view=text;idno=5283331.0002.001;node=5283331.0002.001%3A6

Blogged with Flock
DJ Alloyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07678441133049961043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10539007.post-77841245915014331192007-10-29T15:31:00.000+13:002007-10-29T15:34:24.637+13:00UkeTubeAnd from my home town and all!

DJ Alloyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07678441133049961043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10539007.post-15234012709656570672007-10-05T15:30:00.000+13:002007-10-05T15:32:26.836+13:00Finger size!DJ Alloyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07678441133049961043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10539007.post-26712182918897246462007-10-02T17:00:00.000+13:002007-10-04T18:00:04.819+13:00New TRIP TO THE MOON album released
NEW ALBUM "Welcome to the Big Room" out now
Check it out at http://jazzscore.com/DJ Alloyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07678441133049961043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10539007.post-50043055073490073592007-10-02T16:50:00.000+13:002007-10-02T16:59:52.329+13:00Try out my new Mac music software downloads feed!
Cool Mac downloads!DJ Alloyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07678441133049961043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10539007.post-1169593431975462942007-01-24T12:03:00.000+13:002007-01-24T12:03:52.660+13:00New Trip video on YouTube DJ Alloyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07678441133049961043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10539007.post-1168091444206617112007-01-07T02:48:00.000+13:002007-01-07T02:51:07.450+13:00ALLOY "Electrum" now on YouTubeElectrum is a naturally occurring alloy of gold and silver.

Check out the video!

DJ Alloyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07678441133049961043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10539007.post-1167692499460366312007-01-02T12:00:00.000+13:002007-01-02T12:03:50.916+13:00Yet more ALLOY on YouTube - "Stellite Sky" DJ Alloyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07678441133049961043noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10539007.post-1167275485579173742006-12-28T16:10:00.001+13:002006-12-28T16:17:30.923+13:00YouTube
It's said that if you put a million monkeys at a million typewriters, eventually you will get the works of William Shakespeare. The roots of the BONGO NATIONproject go back to early summer 2005 when Geordie and Tom were on tourin Northland with an Auckland reggae band. Inspired by that experience,Tom spent the rest of that summer tracing the roots of Jamaican dub toAfrican drum music while writing his own BONGO NATION riddims. As the collection of new riddims grew Tom created the BONGO NATIONwebsite and started posting recordings of the new riddims on the web.By early autumn Geordie had joined the project, the duo now jamming onthe BONGO NATION riddims and letting them grow into songs.Towards then end of winter there was enough new BONGO NATION songs torecord and produce an EP. Recording sessions were held in August 2006at Aucklands Rockynook Studios.
